The Mátra museum is located in two buildings one being the former Orczy Castle. Here you can see the permanent exhibitions of hunting, local history, minerals and paleontology. One of the most interesting pieces of the exhibition is Hungary’s only complete mammoth skeleton.
The most exciting exhibitions of recent years is the one of natural science, which focuses on a 15 meter high oak tree. This tree is the focal point of the exhibition. It shows the natural habitat of animals at three viewing floors: ground level, in the trunk and in the canopy of the tree. This makes it a very enjoyable experience for children and adults alike.
